I agree it is not about tools but about the application of those tools. For these continuous improvement concepts to add value they must be aligned with a strategy. Unless we understand the vision, strategy, key metrics driving performance, then we cannot do a good job designing an approach that fits the organization’s direction.

In my work environment we work the problem with the right tool. Most of the time I don’t explain to my peers or team we are going to use a lean approach or this is a great case for some analysis using some Six Sigma tools. The titles complicate everything and people stop focusing on solving the real problem we face.
